Earthstone is a part of the growing environmentally safe cleaning, engineered abrasives, new green building supplies, and agricultural markets, with applications for all of these industries and more.
Earthstone International produces consumer, horticultural, and industrial products using patented technology which converts recycled bottles into products which are:
- high-performance
- customizable
- innovative
- environmentally friendly
- non-toxic
History
Earthstone was co-founded by eco-preneurs Andrew Ungerleider and Gay Dillingham in response to the destructive strip mining for pumice they saw taking place in New Mexico. Ungerleider brought his experience with developing financially successful yet environmentally friendly enterprises to the challenge. To combat pumice mining, he knew he had to find a superior alternative for industrial and household pumice products. So he developed a new method for recycling glass into a super fine powder which could be used in a patented manufacturing process.
While the first products were for consumer and industrial cleaning and sanding applications, continued development of the patented technology has led to product applications in varied areas including floriculture, filtration, and green technology building materials.
A Green Alternative
Earthstone products keep waste glass from the landfill by using green technology as an alternative to destructive strip mining of pumice. New products are also creating viable alternatives for additional strip mined materials, such as perlite, vermiculite and haydite (shale). On top of that, these products have superior physical characteristics and performance which exceeds that of the traditional alternatives.
Looking Ahead
Earthstone continues to develop new products and move into new markets by using patented technology and innovation. The company’s horticulture, consumer and industrial product lines are expanding.
